Last week was quite the adventure for me; I went to an active volcano, rode on a horse up said volcano, trekked down 400 stairs to get to a waterfall (and had to climb back up them again).  Unfortunately, the blissful weekend came to a crashing halt when Sin títuloI suddenly became very ill with a migraine, a fever, and aches.  Of course I would get the flu while studying in a foreign country.  I was so sick that my Mamatica had to take me to the “farmacía” where I got a shot in the butt, which I believed to be a similar medication to Tamiflu.  Within a few hours, the flu symptoms went away and I felt much better but was still incredibly fatigued.  All I wanted to do was to go home to my mom, watch movies all day while dozing in and out of a blissful sleep.  Instead, I had to continue to work on my homework while taking short periodic “siestas” during my break in between classes.  After a few days of somewhat rest and relaxation, I started feeling better and am now back to my healthy and less contagious self.

A few tips I have for anyone that may be getting sick with either the flu or the common cold; go to the “farmacía” right away and get some medication that will help with the symptoms.  As your mom would say, you need to get plenty of rest and drink lots of fluids: bottled water and juice with vitamin C.  You should be feeling better within the week that you bought the medication.  If however, you are not feeling any better you should immediately tell your Mamatica so that you can go to the hospital; Clinica Biblica is very close to Veritas.  Also, do not worry about whether or not you have Dengue because you probably don’t!
