For me going on the excursions every weekend is a lot of fun. I get to explore Costa Rica, meet new people, and practice my Spanish all over the place. The reason I love to explore Costa Rica is because people always talk about how tropical the country is and how beautiful the forests are, so I want to get my own experience of this and travel as much as I can.
Last weekend I traveled to a beautiful city called La Fortuna, “The Fortune.” On the way there from San Jose, I was able to get a good view of the land, the people and the farm animals, and it was a good way to see how they all lived and managed the land. I noticed a lot of the houses were very rural, and there was not a lot for the kids to do to keep themselves active, but the kids seemed fine and content. That’s what I like about Costa Rica, the people don’t seem to need all of the things that people in America think they need to live comfortably.
From La Fortuna I traveled to a city called Monteverde where I was able to participate in a Canopy Tour. This adventure allows people to zipline across and over the canopy of the rainforest. This was a fun experience because it was something different than what I am used to. It was my first time ziplining and I was very impressed, so much that I want to do it again, but in a different location of the country. The most important thing that I am learning about Costa Rica is if you don’t get out and explore, you will miss out on a lot of wonderful features about the country.
