You decided to study abroad in Veritas and now the time has come for your first excursion in Costa Rica.  Remember the first rule of living ihere: Pura Vida! Although I was scared, I signed up to go canyoning. It was actually an amazing experience and I met a lot of great people. It’s a chance to get to know your study abroad group a little better and even yourself. It will absolutely help you figure out if you’re a thrill seeker or not.

I would recommend taking advantage of any excursion you think you might be slightly interested in. You don’t want to go home with regrets and you also don’t want to hear everyone’s amazing stories and think to yourself “I wish I would have gone”. If this is new to you like it is for me, perfect! Experiencing a “first” in a new country is the absolute best feeling ever. You’ll go home with cool pictures and stories to share with your friends and family.

Step out of your comfort zone and explore the great things in store for you. Every excursion is planned with you in mind and designed to help you get the most out of your trip, and also you will get to know more of your Veritas friends! Even if you have to zip line with your eyes closed, just do it! At least you can go home and say you tried something new, even if it was a little bit frightening. Explore the country with a brave face. Until next time, Pura Vida!
